On the last night of October, just as Nov. 1 approached, Carey posted a video of herself being defrosted to sing “It’s time!”
Suddenly, Christmas time took over, and she was dancing and singing her hit single “All I Want for Christmas” among friends and family.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Carey has been dubbed “The Queen of Christmas” due to the longevity of her famous Christmas song, which has become a classic among other traditional carols like, “Silent Night,” and Nat King Cole’s “The Christmas Song.”
She is the only singer to ever have a number mone single on the Billboard Hot 100 Charts for the same song spanning through four different decades.
Carey spends each Christmas season celebrating the joy this song brings. Although Nov. 1 tends to be the start of the song’s continual climb to number one, she takes her time celebrating and stated to Entertainment Weekly, “I personally like to wait till after Thanksgiving to really get gung-ho.”
In 2019, she described the original release response from 1994 to Entertainment Weekly. She said, “When it first came out, it was more of a gradual thing.”
“It was popular, but it didn’t have what it has now. I feel like people have grown up with the song and it’s become a part of people’s lives in terms of the way they celebrate the holidays,” she added.
Then Carey concluded, “That makes me feel really proud as someone that loves Christmas so much.”
