Three people were reportedly killed and six others injured after a shooting at a bus stop in Jerusalem, which Hamas has claimed credit for.

Livia Dickman, 24, Elimelech Wasserman, 73, and Hannah Ifergan, in her 60s, died Thursday after two Hamas terrorists opened fire on people at a bus stop in Jerusalem around 7:40 a.m., police said, The Times of Israel reported.

Hamas later reportedly claimed responsibility for the shooting, explaining it was not only in response to Israel’s war waged on the terrorist group after Oct. 7, but in response to the killing of two children, Adam Al-Ghoul, 8, and Basel Abu Al-Wafa, 15, and two top Hamas commanders.

Al-Wafa had reportedly been a member of Hamas.

After the two gunmen, identified as Murad Nemer, 38, and Ibrahim Nemer, 30, opened fire, two off-duty soldiers with the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and an armed civilian returned fire and killed the brothers, police said.

Murad Nemer had reportedly was in jail between 2010 and 2020 for his involvement in planning terror attacks, while Ibrahim Nemer was jailed in 2014 for unknown terror activity, the Shin Bet security agency told the outlet.

Video footage of the incident showed the brothers exiting a white vehicle armed with an M-16 assault rifle and a handgun and began firing at the crowd as people were seen running away.

The shooting came as a temporary truce in fighting between Israel and Hamas was agreed upon for a seventh day, just before it was set to expire.
