A House Democrat facing a run-off for Houston’s mayoral race aired an ad telling supporters to vote on the wrong day.

Over the weekend, the account Medium Buying shared an ad from Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) ahead of the run-off election for mayor.

“If we’re gonna bring down crime, fix our streets, and bring good paying jobs here, then Houston needs a champion who’s ready to fight for what’s right. And I am,” the Democratic congresswoman says in the ad.

Meanwhile, text displayed on the screen urges supporters to “vote on or before December 7th.”

However, the date of the election is Dec. 9.

Mediaite confirmed the ad aired on Houston television markets.

Conservative commentator Josh Holmes posted on X, formerly Twitter, in response to the mistake, “Thoughts and prayers for the staff at this critical time.”

Many of the responses referred to an audio clip that surfaced in which Jackson Lee referred to one staffer as a “fat-ass stupid idiot,” while saying others were f***-ups,” and claiming “nobody knows a Godd*** thing in my office.”

She later addressed the recording and stated she is “not perfect” and that “in my zeal to do everything possible to deliver for my constituents I have in the past fallen short of my own standards and there is no excuse for that.”
