Journalist Megyn Kelly is opening up about what former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) said to her during a commercial break at the fourth Republican primary debate.

On Thursday, Kelly discussed the moment when Christie was seen confronting her as she said, “He was pissed off. He was mad that he wasn’t getting enough questions.”

“And he said, ‘I made it up at this stage, and I haven’t been able to speak in awhile. And I should have been brought in on that last debate,'” she added.

Kelly said she told Christie he would be “happy” in the second hour of the debate as he would get more questions then.

Watch the video below:

She went on to explain the timing of the debate was a little thrown off “by all the arguing.”

However, Kelly defended the distribution of the questions as she said, “He’s polling at 2%, OK?”

“In no debate ever, and I’ve now done six of them, have we given as many questions to the guy who’s at 3% as to the person who’s in the lead, at least among the candidates that are on the stage. I’m sorry, Gov. Christie. That’s the way it is,” she added.

Finally, Kelly cited CNN’s tally of how much time each candidate got to speak and noted Christie got half a minute less time than former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley.

During Wednesday’s debate, Christie was caught on camera confronting Kelly and her fellow moderators.

However, it was not clear what the conversation was about at the time.

The exchange during the debate comes as RealClearPolitics’ average of polls shows Christie in fifth place at 2.6%.
