President Joe Biden is using a major ruling by Arizona’s Supreme Court to make the case for his re-election.

During a press conference on Wednesday, NBC News’ Peter Alexander asked, “What do you say to the people of Arizona right now who are witnessing a law go in place that dates back to the Civil War era.”

Biden responded, “Elect me, I’m in the 20th Century.”

He quickly corrected himself, “21st Century.”

Earlier this week, the state’s Supreme Court to revive a 160-year-old near total ban on abortion.

The law, which was in place before Arizona was even made a state, bans abortion from the moment of conception. However, it does provide an exception for the life of the woman.

The court put a hold on its implementation for 14 days to provide time for additional challenges.

Biden has previously sought to make the case for his re-election by arguing his views are more modern.

During an interview with late-night host Seth Meyers, Biden said, “It’s about how old your ideas are. Look, I mean, [former President Donald Trump] wants to take his back… he wants to take us back in Roe v Wade. He wants to take us back on a whole range of issues that are 50, 60 years. They’ve been solid American positions.”

Former President Donald Trump has also criticized the law. On Wednesday, he was asked, ““Mr. President did Arizona go too far? Did Arizona go too far, sir?”

“Yeah, they did. That’ll be straightened out. As you know it’s all about state’s rights,” Trump responded.

He continued, “It’ll be straightened out. I’m sure that the governor and everybody else are going bring it back to within reason. And that will be taking care of, I think, very quickly.”
