Former Vice President Mike Pence “ failed” former President Donald Trump in the aftermath of the Jan. 6 insurrection.

That’s according to South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R), who is one of many vying to be Trump’s running mate in November, according to the HuffPost.

Noem made that comment in an interview on “State of the Union” on CNN.

“I think he has failed Donald Trump since that day,” Noem said. “Because he certainly does not recognize that we need someone in the White House who needs him out on the trail advocating for him instead of constantly criticizing and going back and ripping him apart,” she said.

Pence has refused to endorse Trump in the 2024 election.

Pence has distanced himself from Trump since the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol when rioters chanted “hang Mike Pence,” the HuffPost reported.

The former vice president has said events of that day were “reckless” and “endangered” his family, per the outlet.

The governor also said she’d join Trump as his vice president “in a heartbeat” is asked.

She’s not alone.

Other contenders are Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.), Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) and Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.).

She also said she’s ready to back Trump whether or not he’s convicted in the hush money trial currently underway.

“If my choice is between Joe Biden and Donald Trump every single day of the week, yes, I will support Donald Trump,” she said.
