Vice President Kamala Harris is taking heat for how she responded to a question about a potential ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
On Monday, Hamas stated it accepted a ceasefire proposal from Egypt and Qatar.
Shortly after the news broke, Harris was exiting a restaurant and reporters asked for her response.
“Madam Vice President, Hamas has accepted a ceasefire…” a reporter began.
However, Harris interrupted to apparently share what food she picked up, saying, “Shrimp and grits.”
She did not address the question.

As CNN notes, “The Israeli government is now reviewing the Hamas response, CNN has learned. The Israeli prime minister’s office has declined to comment at this stage.”
“It’s unclear whether Hamas has agreed to the most recent ceasefire proposal, as outlined last week, or a revised version of it,” the outlet explained. “The most recent framework, which Israel helped craft but has not fully agreed to, calls for the release of between 20 and 33 hostages over several weeks in exchange for a temporary ceasefire and the release of Palestinian prisoners.”
