Three men have been charged by the Wisconsin attorney general for their part in putting “forth a slate of fake electors and usurp the 2020 presidential election,” CNN reported.
Kenneth Chesebro, a Donald Trump ally who helped devise the fake elector plot; Jim Troupis, a former Trump lawyer; and Michael Roman, a former Trump campaign official, each face one count of forgery.
Wisconsin joins several other states that have brought charges against people connected to Donald Trump’s effort to overturn the presidential election results.
The other states are Michigan, Arizona, Nevada and Georgia.
Democratic Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers gave a brief statement regarding the news on Tuesday.
“Good.”
Chesebro allegedly helped investigators in at least four states, including Wisconsin, who were investigating the fake electors scheme.
Chesebro’s lawyers thought his cooperation would be enough for him to avoid any charges.
Ten fake electors from Wisconsin disavowed their attempt to overturn the 2020 election. In doing so, they agreed not to serve as real electors in 2024 or any election when Trump is on the ballot.
