President Joe Biden is taking aim at his predecessor for attacking his executive order aimed at curbing the number of illegal border crossings.
During an interview, ABC News’ David Muir asked Biden about former President Donald Trump calling his executive action on the border “weak and pathetic.”
“Is he describing himself?” the president asked.
After several seconds of silence, Biden said with a laugh, “Weak and pathetic, come on!”
“Look, everybody knows what’s happened. We had a deal. It was much broader than this, much better, much more accepted across the board, and he got on the phone and told the Republicans, ‘Don’t support it,'” Biden added.

Earlier this week, Biden announced a new executive order he said is aimed at curbing the flow of illegal immigration.
Politico notes, “The action and accompanying rule from the Biden administration allows the president to suspend asylum claims in between ports of entry when there is an average of 2,500 crossings a day over a seven day period. That threshold, administration officials said, has already been hit over the past week.”
Also under the new action, if the average daily number of border crossing exceeds 2,500 over seven days, the president can shut down the border between ports of entry. It would also make those who cross the border illegally ineligible for asylum, except under certain circumstances.
However, the new measure is not being received well. Several Democratic lawmakers have argued the measure is too restrictive, while Republicans argue it does not go far enough.
In a video posted on Truth Social, Trump claimed the action is “all about show because [Biden] knows we have a debate coming up in three weeks… The truth is that Joe Biden’s executive order won’t stop the invasion, it’s weak and it’s pathetic. It will actually make the invasion worse.”
