The conviction of Hunter Biden could lead to a change at the top of the presidential ticket for Democrats, according to a House Republican.

On Wednesday, Rep. Andy Ogles (R-Tenn.) spoke to Fox Business’ Maria Bartiromo about the conviction of Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, on three felony charges.

Ogles suggested the verdict “creates an opening” for Democrat to “slip someone” such as former First Lady Michelle Obama onto the ticket as the party’s presidential nominee.

“The Biden family can say, ‘Hey, we’re going to take care of our house, we’re going to take care of our son,’ and then allow Michelle Obama to come in and run,” he suggested. “Because, again, Joe Biden can’t win this election, and they know that, and they are desperate for another candidate.”

Bartiromo said she is “increasingly thinking that Joe Biden withdraws from this race by the time Nov. 5 comes along.”

Hunter Biden was charged with three felony gun charges in September after a plea deal fell apart. The charges stem from allegations he illegally purchased a firearm while he was addicted to crack cocaine.

On Tuesday, he was found guilty on all three counts.

Joe Biden has said he would not pardon his son if he is found guilty. But White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre declined to say if he would rule out commuting his son’s sentence.

In a statement shortly after the verdict, the president said he is “so proud of the man [Hunter Biden] is today,” but vowed to “respect the judicial process as Hunter considers an appeal.” Hours later, he made a previously unscheduled visit to Delaware where he was seen hugging Hunter Biden.

The president has received praise from commentators in the mainstream media for saying he would not pardon his son. A legal analyst on MSNBC called him the “living embodiment of the rule of law” Meanwhile, a co-host of ABC’s “The View” insisted Joe Biden is a “true American who believes in democracy and the way the system is supposed to work.”
