The United States has become a dictatorship under President Joe Biden, according to a Republican governor.

North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum (R) — who is seen as a potential vice presidential pick for former President Donald Trump — appeared on Fox News’ “The Story with Martha MacCallum” Wednesday and made the disturbing proclamation, saying, “Under Joe Biden, we’re actually living under a dictatorship today where he’s bypassing Congress on immigration policy, he’s bypassing Congress on protecting our border, he’s bypassing Congress on student loan forgiveness, and he’s defying the Supreme Court.”

“I mean, those are the things that authoritarians and dictators do… they don’t follow our democratic processes and they just assert their own liberal view. And that’s what the Biden administration is doing,” he added.

Liberals have claimed Trump would try to be a dictator if he wins a second term.

In a statement to The Hill before Trump met with Republican lawmakers in Washington, D.C., last week, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said, “The instigator of an insurrection is returning to the scene of the crime. January 6th was a crime against the Capitol, that saw Nazi and Confederate flags flying under the dome that Lincoln built.”

“It was a crime against the Constitution and its peaceful transfer of power, in a desperate attempt to cling to power,” the statement added. “And it was a crime against Members, heroic police officers and staff, that resulted in death, injury and trauma that endure to this day.”

Finally, Pelosi said, “With his pledges to be a dictator on day one and seek revenge against his political opponents, Donald Trump comes to Capitol Hill today with the same mission of dismantling our democracy.

“But make no mistake — Trump has already cemented his legacy of shame in our hallowed halls,” she insisted.

Her statement appeared to be a shot at the former president’s joke about being a dictator for one day. In December, Fox News’ Sean Hannity asked Trump if he would reassure Americans he would not abuse his power or fulfill his retribution pledge.

“Except for day one,” he responded. “We love this guy. He says, ‘You’re not going to be a dictator, are you?’ I said: ‘No, no, no, other than day one. We’re closing the border, and we’re drilling, drilling, drilling. After that, I’m not a dictator.’”
