A website devoted to tracking congressional voting records has removed a page that ranked Kamala Harris “most liberal” U.S. senator in 2019.
GovTrack confirmed the page’s removal to Fox News Digital.
The page was removed within the last two weeks.
GovTrack scored Harris as the “most liberal compared to all senators” in 2019. She outranked Sens. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren at the time.
The web page was heavily reported during the 2020 election. Now, the link shows a “Page Not Found” message.
According to the Internet Archive, the page was deleted sometime between July 10 and July 23. Some users on X, formerly Twitter, claim the page was up on July 22.
On July 21, President Joe Biden stepped down from the presidential race and endorsed Harris as the Democratic nominee.
Harris has since announced she has secured enough delegates to lock up the nomination.
GovTrack founder Joshua Tauberer said the page was removed because of a new policy the company adopted “several years ago.” The policy was to end its single-year ratings based on what lawmakers only do in Congressional sessions, which are two years.
“We determined that the limited data available in a single year was not sufficient to create a reliable portrait of the activity of legislators, particularly given the ebbs and flows of the legislative calendar, and therefore did not serve as a useful tool to our users and the American public,” Tauberer said. “We subsequently took down the previously-published single-calendar-year statistics for the same reason.”
Tauberer said the pages weren’t removed when the policy was put into effect because it was not a priority.
“I was focused on more impactful aspects of our work,” he said.
On her existing 2020 web page, Harris is ranked “most politically left compared to Senate Democrats.” She was ranked the second most liberal behind Independent Sanders in all of the Senate.
Sometime in October 2020, GovTrack changed the ranking from “most liberal” to “most politically left.”
The analysis is based on senators’ “legislative behavior” and the senator’s record of sponsoring or cosponsoring bipartisan bills
The 2019 analysis showed Harris joined bipartisan legislation “the least often compared to Senate Democrats.”
GovTrack also found Harris held the fewest committee positions and was the third most absent senator — missing 61.9% of votes, NBC Montana reported.
