Robert F. Kennedy Jr. went on a tirade against Vice President Kamala Harris on Thursday shortly after reportedly attempting to meet with her about a potential job.
Harris and her advisers have not responded to Kennedy regarding his interest in a possible position in the administration if he endorses her ahead of the 2024 election, according to The Washington Post. Kennedy said in an “X” post on Thursday that he does not plan to endorse Harris, arguing that the current Democratic Party’s ideology is misaligned with that of his uncle and father, former President John F. Kennedy and former U.S. Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy.
“VP Harris’s Democratic Party would be unrecognizable to my father and uncle and I cannot reconcile it with my values,” Kennedy wrote. “The Democratic Party of RFK and JFK was the party of civil liberties and free speech. VP Harris‘s is the party of censorship, lockdowns, and medical coercion. Kennedy Democrats were anti-war. Kamala‘s is riddled with neocon warmongers. The RFK/JFK dems were allies of Main Street, cops, firefighters, and working people. VP Harris’s is the Party of Big Tech, Big Pharma and Wall Street.”

Kennedy further accused Harris of being afraid to debate or face the media due to being unable to “survive an unscripted interview.” Harris has not held a press conference or participated in a sit-down interview in the last 25 days since she launched her campaign.
“My father and uncle prided themselves on their skills at debate and their ability to articulate a coherent vision for our country,” Kennedy continued. “VP Harris is scared to debate and can’t survive an unscripted interview. Instead of outlining a vision, she relies on middleschool tactics – memes, forged headlines, infantile slogans (Joy!) and name calling (“Republicans are weird.“) I’ve spent years battling government corruption and lies. VP Harris spent years gaslighting Americans about the health of our Commander in Chief.”
“I have no plans to endorse Kamala Harris for President. I do have a plan to defeat her,” he concluded.
Kennedy said Harris’ campaign is making a “strategic mistake” by not scheduling a meeting with him, according to The Washington Post.
“I think it is a strategic mistake for them. That’s my perspective,” Kennedy said. “I think they ought to be looking at every opportunity. I think it is going to be a very close race.”
Kennedy reportedly met with Republican nominee Donald Trump in mid-July to discuss a possible endorsement in exchange for a position advising the former president on health policy. The meeting did not result in any job offer or endorsement, though Trump campaign advisers told the Post they are still in touch with Kennedy and his campaign.
Kennedy is not currently intending to drop out of the race and is planning to hold rallies in Nebraska and Arizona, according to The Washington Post. His advisers said Kennedy is considering his exit from the race if he finds another way to bring change to the nation.
The independent candidate has attempted to convince Democratic voters he is a better fit for the party’s nomination than Biden, the Post reported. Kennedy’s daughter-in-law and campaign manager, Amaryllis Fox Kennedy, argued in an April email to Democrats that Biden could not win the race.
“As things are, Biden is going to lose. If Bobby were to drop out, Trump would win by an additional two states,” she wrote. “If Biden were to drop out, Trump would lose. Only Bobby can win this,” she wrote, according to The Washington Post.
Biden dropped out of the race on July 21 and endorsed Harris after several members of his party questioned his ability to win re-election.
Kennedy currently holds 5% support in national polling as of Thursday, according to FiveThirtyEight.
