Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) slammed CNN for reporting on former President Donald Trump saying Vice President Kamala Harris has “bigger cognitive problems” than President Joe Biden.
“Why would you even cover that? This is a person who’s not on the level,” Pelosi during an appearance on CNN Tuesday, The Hill reported. “He is their nominee for president. He is incompetent. Let’s not even talk about the silliness of it all.”
Earlier that day Trump spoke at a campaign rally in Savannah, Georgia, where he said world leaders are “laughing at us,” per The Hill.
“We have to be respected. They laugh at us. All over the world, they’re laughing at us,” Trump said.
“And you know what they’re really laughing at? Kamala,” Trump added, “because they can’t believe that she’s going to be president. They can’t believe.”
He then attacked her cognitive ability.
“You talk about cognitive problems? She’s got bigger cognitive problems than he has, in my opinion,” Trump said, referring to Biden.
Pelosi said those comments were an “assault on women.”
The former speaker of the House also criticized Trump’s time in the White House.
“The only thing he did as president, the only thing he did as president when he had the majority, was to pass a bill that gave 83, a tax cut that gave 83 of the benefits to the top 1%, adding $2 trillion to the national debt,” she said.
Pelosi also said the Republican presidential nominee had “the worst job creation record of anybody president since Herbert Hoover.”
