Former President Donald Trump is opening up one of his luxury resorts in Florida to host around 275 linemen who will be working to restore power after Hurricane Milton runs its course.

Trump is hosting the linemen at the Trump National Doral Miami resort in South Florida, which is not projected to endure the worst of Hurricane Milton, Eric Trump wrote in a Wednesday social media post. The Category 4 hurricane is expected to make landfall in the coming hours and cause considerable damage across a huge swath of Florida, with potentially devastating storm surges and high wind speeds, according to The New York Times.

“This is another example of the Trump family’s amazing generosity,” Karoline Leavitt, national press secretary for the Trump campaign, told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “They truly care for the hardworking people of this country.”

Honored to have 275 incredible linemen from FPL at @TrumpDoral as they get ready to respond to the aftermath of Hurricane #Milton! You are amazing and the Trump Family, and entire state of Florida, appreciates you! Enjoy the rooms – they are the best in Florida! Be safe! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/HAFwuWB2fn

Around 50 of Florida’s 67 counties are under evacuation orders as of Wednesday afternoon, according to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. Hurricane Helene also hit Florida, particularly the state’s Golf Coast region, at the end of September before going on to devastate swaths of North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee.

The linemen staying at Trump’s resort will join tens of thousands of other electrical workers who are venturing to the state from all over the country to assist the Hurricane Milton recovery efforts, according to Fox 13 Tampa Bay. The Trump National Doral Miami resort features nearly 650 rooms and suites for guests, according to Forbes Travel Guide.

Vice President and Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris accused Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis of attempting to play “political games” with the Hurricane Milton response effort by dodging a phone call, though President Joe Biden confirmed Monday that he has been in touch with DeSantis about both hurricanes.
