A caller told radio host Charlamagne Tha God on Wednesday  that Vice President Kamala Harris came across as out of touch with “young black Americans” during their Tuesday audio town hall.

Harris appeared on Charlamagne’s popular radio show, “The Breakfast Club,” to discuss her policy platform and take questions from Detroit, Michigan, residents. During the show’s “Get It Off Your Chest” morning segment, the caller told Charlamagne that Harris seemed uninterested in addressing issues facing average Americans during their interview.

LISTEN:

“I saw the interview last night, and I feel like if the Democratic Party don’t uphold to the promises that they makin’ to they voters, I really believe that they gon’ lose the black vote — well, a good majority of the black vote — moving forward after this election,” the caller said. “A lot of what Kamala Harris was saying, it sounded good, but I think she’s a little bit tone-deaf to everyday American citizens … When the guy asked her about like what she would do for the economy, she started mentioning like, you know, the home buying and all that stuff, but she went to where she was talking about how she made medications affordable for seniors and all that.”

“And I appreciate her doing that for that, but it’s like, as far as like young black Americans, the Gen Zs and the Millennials … A lot of us, if we ain’t left our mama house, we done moved back in with mama,” he added. “So, it’s, like, what is her plan as far as like the immediate impact on the economy, so where we can start getting back to saving money, so we can be able to start investing into like having a small business and stuff like that.”

Charlamagne urged the caller to “Google Kamala Harris’ opportunity economy plan.”

“A lot of what you’re asking for is in there. And the reason I give her props on that is because I’ve seen what she’s done the last almost four years in the White House in regards to putting money back into the economy, especially with the American Rescue Plan and small business,” he added. “But go look into it.”

Harris in September released an 82-page plan explaining her vision for the economy, titled, “A New Way Forward For The Middle Class,” with the subtitle, “A Plan to Lower Costs and Create an Opportunity Economy.” The plan strongly resembles President Joe Biden’s economic agenda, building upon his initiatives like student loan debt cancellation, industrial policy, subsidies for green energy and targeting corporations for alleged price gouging.

The Harris campaign on Monday launched its “Opportunity Agenda for Black Men,” which proposes giving one million $20,000 loans to black entrepreneurs and “others who have historically faced barriers to starting a new business or growing an existing business.”
