Elon Musk and Joe Rogan on Monday accused the Democratic Party of repeatedly spreading misinformation and suggested that YouTube may be deliberately suppressing Rogan’s recent interview with former President Donald Trump.
During an appearance on “The Joe Rogan Experience,” Musk said Democrats “do all the things they accuse” Trump of, pointing to what he called a pattern of deliberate hoaxes and disinformation. The Tesla CEO also said the Democratic Party repeatedly propagates falsehoods and hoaxes.
“Politicians are going to exaggerate. They’re going to speak, and then they’ll tell occasional untruths, whatever. That’s how it is for politics. But [then] you have deliberate, concerted, repeated pushing of hoaxes,” Musk told Rogan.
“You claim to be the good guys. The Dems are like, ‘Oh, we’re the good guys. We’re the honest people.’ You can’t claim to be the good guys. You can’t claim to be the honest people if you’re deliberately pushing hoaxes that have been debunked thoroughly.”
The two pointed to high-profile examples, including the accusations that Trump advocated for violence against political opponents.
“A recent one that came up, which had [fooled] a lot of people. A lot of people reached out to me. It was like, ‘Oh, Trump says he wants to execute Liz Cheney.’ I’m like, ‘That is utter bullshit. [That’s] not what he said at all. What he said he said was ‘Look, if Liz Cheney actually had to fight at the front lines, she would think twice about going to war,” Musk added.
“It’s easy to go to war. It’s easy to be a warmonger if you don’t have to risk dying at the front line. [That] basically gets fucked up if people are having fancy dinners in Washington DC.”
During an event in Arizona on Thursday with Tucker Carlson, Trump addressed Liz Cheney’s continued opposition to him, highlighting her recent appearances with Vice President Kamala Harris to influence moderate Republicans, according to the Associated Press (AP). Reports emerged alleging that Trump called for the execution of Cheney. These claims were debunked, confirming that Trump made no such statements.
“She’s a radical war hawk. Let’s put her with the rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her. OK, let’s see how she feels about it. You know, when the guns are trained on her face,” Trump said, according to the AP.
Another hoax was when Vice President Kamala Harris and other Democrats warned that Trump’s “Project 2025” agenda would lead to cuts in Social Security, according to PolitiFact. Despite Trump’s past openness to entitlement reform, his 2024 campaign platform explicitly promises that not “a single penny” will be cut from Social Security.
Rogan also turned his ire toward YouTube, accusing the platform of suppressing certain viewpoints and specifically targeting his recent interview with Trump.
“I think YouTube throttled [the visibility of the interview]. They did something where they won’t say what they did, but they did something weird with the Trump interview that I did where you couldn’t find it. It made no sense,” Rogan said.
Reports have surfaced alleging that YouTube suppressed the interview between Rogan and Trump, the Post reported. Users reported difficulties locating the full three-hour episode through standard search terms like “Joe Rogan Trump,” with results favoring clips from traditional media outlets over the complete interview.
