Billionaire Elon Musk wants Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) to be the next Senate majority leader.

Musk, who made the announcement Sunday with a post on X, formerly Twitter, is one of many supporters of President-elect Donald Trump to endorse Scott for the post.

“Rick Scott for Senate Majority Leader!” Musk posted Sunday afternoon.

Musk’s endorsement came after Republicans took control of the Senate after the Nov. 5 election.

Musk made his post in response to one Scott made in response to Trump’s post regarding seeking a Senate leader.

“Any Republican Senator seeking the coveted LEADERSHIP position in the United States Senate must agree to Recess Appointments (in the Senate!), without which we will not be able to get people confirmed in a timely manner.”

Scott responded, “100% agree. I will do whatever it takes to get your nominations through as quickly as possible.”

Others calling for Scott to be the Senate GOP leader include Sens. Marco Rubio of Florida, Bill Hagerty of Tennessee, Ron Johnson of Wisconsin and Rand Paul of Kentucky,  Fox News reported.

The reality of Scott earning the post is viewed as a longshot by many.

Other candidates include Republican Sens. John Cornyn of Texas, and John Thune of South Dakota.

Current Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell has been in a leadership position since 2007. He is not seeking election to the post, Reuters reported.
