Trump refused to apologize Monday for criticizing Pope Leo XIV, after the pontiff called for an end to violence in the Iran war. "There's nothing to apologize for. He's wrong," Trump told reporters, a day after a social media post and comments slamming the US-born pope. (Photo by Brendan SMIALOWSKI / AFP via Getty Images)

President Donald Trump is ready for the U.S. to resume bombing Iran of the ceasefire expires Tuesday.

Trump spoke with PBS on the status of the ceasefire and peace talks with Iran.

“Lots of bombs start going off,” if the ceasefire expires, Trump said.

The president also admitted he was not sure if Iran will be at the peace talks in Islamabad, Pakistan.

“I don’t know. I mean, they’re supposed to be there. We agreed to be there, although they say we didn’t,” Trump said. “But no, it was set up. And we’ll see whether or not it’s there. If they’re not there, that’s fine, too.”

The president’s goal in peace talks comes down to three words — “No nuclear weapons.”

“Very simple. Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. Very simple,” Trump said.

He also justified his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, playing a role in peace talks since “he has a lot of business and financial interests in the Middle East region, from Saudi Arabia and other countries.”

“Well, he was there before, long time before, and he’s purely negotiating for the fact that they’re not going to have a nuclear weapon,” Trump said. “Whether you have business or not, everybody knows that’s the right thing. He’s a very good negotiator …”

“We’re not negotiating anything other than the fact that they will not have a nuclear weapon. And that’s pretty basic when you get right down to it. So you know, that’s it. I sent an A-team. I sent my A-Team, he’s done an excellent job,” Trump continued. “He doesn’t participate with Saudi now, as you know. He’s taken… He doesn’t do that. He has a business but he doesn’t participate now.”
