The world has now been able to read Special Counsel Jack Smith’s final report regarding President-elect Donald Trump’s attempt to overturn the 2020 presidential election.
Needless to say, Trump responded with a lengthy post on X and Truth Social in which he did not mince words and called Smith a “lamebrain prosecutor.”
“Deranged Jack Smith was unable to successfully prosecute the Political Opponent of his ‘boss,’ Crooked Joe Biden, so he ends up writing yet another ‘Report’ based on information that the Unselect Committee of Political Hacks and Thugs ILLEGALLY DESTROYED AND DELETED, because it showed how totally innocent I was, and how completely guilty Nancy Pelosi, and others, were,” Trump posted in early Tuesday morning.
“Jack is a lamebrain prosecutor who was unable to get his case tried before the Election, which I won in a landslide. THE VOTERS HAVE SPOKEN,” Trump continued.
Smith’s report about the investigation into Trump’s effort was released publicly shortly after midnight on Tuesday, The Hill reported.
Smith also sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland.
Smith said the decision to bring charges against Trump was his own. His decision was influenced by someone in the Department of Justice (DOJ) or within the Biden administration.
“To all who know me well, the claim from Mr. Trump that my decisions as a prosecutor were influenced or directed by the Biden administration or other political actors is, in a word, laughable,” Smith wrote in the letter.
Trump and his co-defendents have attempted to block the release of the report, which came to some success in the classified documents case in Florida.
Smith outlined wrote in a 174-page volume that it was possible to convict Trump in the case involving the Jan. 6 riot and the alleged obstruction the peaceful transfer of power.
“The throughline of all of Mr. Trump’s criminal efforts was deceit-knowingly false claims of election fraud-and the evidence shows that Mr. Trump used these lies as a weapon to defeat a federal government function foundational to the United States’ democratic process,” per the report.
The timing of the report’s release was not lost on Trump and proved “how desperate Deranged Jack Smith is,” Trump suggested.
