The Republican State Leadership Committee is sounding the alarm about the millions of dollars Democratic Party-aligned groups are expected to invest in several state supreme court races taking place in two battleground states in 2025.
The RSLC’s Judicial Fairness Initiative (JFI), which works to elect conservative judges in states across the country, is highlighting the stakes of state supreme court races in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin this November in a new video released Thursday, exclusively obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation. The RSLC is warning that the failure of GOP-backed candidates to win these seats will empower Democrats to wield influence over state and federal redistricting processes into the next decade.
Democratic victories in these races would also cement left-wing majorities on the Wisconsin and Pennsylvania Supreme Courts, setting up a scenario where the states’ liberal courts could routinely overrule future Republican majorities in both state legislatures.
“While conservative judges were able to capitalize on historic enthusiasm in 2024, the fight against the radical left’s push to take control of state supreme court seats nationwide to influence the redistricting process at the state and federal levels is about to get a whole lot tougher,” RSLC-JFI President Edith Jorge-Tuñón told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “National liberal groups are expected to invest heavily in these races, but the Judicial Fairness Initiative stands ready to fight back by enhancing our efforts to elect conservative justices who uphold the rule of law.”
“The stakes couldn’t be any higher in 2025, and we will invest significant resources to ensure we win these races that will have consequences for redistricting into the next decade,” Jorge-Tuñón added.
Democrats hold a 5-2 advantage on the Pennsylvania state supreme court heading into 2025 with three sitting Democratic justices up for reelection.
In Wisconsin, though state supreme court elections are officially nonpartisan, Democrats are seen as wielding a narrow 4-3 majority after liberal judge Janet Protasiewicz won a seat on the bench in 2023. With left-wing Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Ann Walsh Bradley’s retirement, conservatives will have an opportunity in November to retake control of the state’s highest judicial body in November.

The release of the RSLC’s new video, titled “Redraw and Erase” comes after a memo the Committee sent to GOP donors this week highlighting the importance of contributing to conservative candidates running for these state supreme court seats.
“On November 5th, the American people sent a message to Washington. Just weeks after this historic election, the left has already working to undermine it, Obama operatives have flooded judicial elections with millions of dollars, to stack the courts with soft-on-crime judges who would redraw and erase Republican districts making it easier for Democrats to sue until America is blue and it’s already working,” the RSLC’s video states. “In Pennsylvania, our legislative majority was erased by activist judges and in battleground Wisconsin, liberal courts overturned fair redistricting maps that are chipping away at conservative districts.”
“That’s why the RSLC’s Judicial Fairness Initiative is fighting back with supporting conservative judges who stand up to the rule of law and respect the American people,” the video continues. “The courts are our last line of defense and the majorities we won in November must be defended.”
The JFI has spent more than $29 million in states across the country since its founding, according to the RSLC website.
