Radio host Charlamagne Tha God plainly informed journalist Morgyn Wood on Thursday that he has no issue with President Donald Trump’s administration following the law by deporting illegal immigrants.

Wood, during the “Front Page News” segment of “The Breakfast Club,” discussed how border czar Tom Homan praised Democratic New York City Mayor Eric Adams for committing to collaborate with the Trump administration’s agenda on Wednesday during a visit to Albany. When Wood solicited Charlamagne’s opinion, the radio host asserted he has no qualms with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) executing their authority.

WATCH:

“I mean, if they’re illegals that commit crimes, I have no problem with ICE doing their job — if they’re illegals that are committing crimes,” Charlamagne said.

Wood asked Charlamagne if he was specifically referring to “violent offenders” or illegal immigrants generally.

“If they’re here illegally, they’re here illegally … Here’s the thing: we’re acting like this hasn’t happened in America before,” Charlamagne responded.

“We’re acting like the system isn’t backed up. I mean, it could be — you could be a citizen and the system is backed up,” Wood retorted.

Charlamagne called out the journalist for switching from discussing illegal immigrants to citizens, which she acknowledged was true.

“So you’re conflating the two. If you’re a citizen, you’re a citizen,” he said. “If you’re here illegally, you’re here illegally. I don’t know what to tell people.”

Charlamagne later noted that former President Barack Obama was known for deporting numerous illegal immigrants during his time in office.

“We’re all up in arms now about ICE saying they want to deport illegals. You know, Obama deported a record, over 400,000 unauthorized immigrants in 2013,” he said. “They used to call Obama the ‘deporter in chief,’ so I wonder what he was doing differently. That’s all — I just want to know … ’cause you know we like to pick and choose what we get outraged over based on, you know, who does it.”

Homan has spearheaded the Trump administration efforts to clamp down on immigration enforcement, arresting and deporting violent criminals who illegally resided in the U.S. As a result of the administration’s immigration enforcement, apprehensions at the southern border reached the lowest average ever recorded by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in February, at less than 300 per day.

Democratic Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett claimed on “The Katie Phang Show” Saturday that “it is not a criminal violation to enter the country illegally … it’s not a crime.” However, Homan criticized and corrected her on Monday.

“It’s a crime to enter the country illegally under Title 8 United States Code 1325 and it’s really pathetic that any member of Congress [doesn’t] understand what the law says,” Homan said. “They wrote the law, they enacted the law, [it’s] signed by a president. It is a criminal violation to enter the country legally. And if you’ve entered prior, it’s a felony.”

While Homan has emphasized the prioritization of arresting “public safety threats” and “national security threats,” he has also noted that authorities would make collateral arrests of illegal immigrants who do not pose such threats.
