Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and President Donald Trump talked about a possible ceasefire between Russia in Ukraine in what was described as a “very good” phone call.

Trump spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin Tuesday when he agreed to ease up on striking Ukraine’s energy infrastructure for 30 days, through the ceasefire, per Fox News.

The agreement did not include frontlines or civilian populations, which the Trump administration had hoped.

Special envoy Steve Witkoff Wednesday said Wednesday a ceasefire is within reach.

A meeting including Trump and Putin is “likely to happen,” Witkoff said.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio and national security advisor Mike Waltz are set to return to Saudi Arabia Sunday to discuss the agreement.

It is unclear someone from the Ukrainian delegation will also be in attendance.

An exchange of 175 prisoners in addition to 23 “seriously wounded” Ukrainians were part of a “gesture of goodwill” Putin agreed to.

After the call with Trump, Zelenskyy made a post on X.

“Today is another day when Ukraine brings its people back. 175 of our defenders have been released from Russian captivity. Another 22 defenders are returning home through measures beyond exchanges,” he said. “Among them are severely wounded warriors and those whom Russia persecuted for fabricated crimes. All of them will immediately receive the necessary medical and psychological assistance.”

“This is one of the largest POW exchanges. Returning home are our soldiers, sergeants, and officers – warriors who fought for our freedom in the ranks of the Armed Forces, Navy, National Guard, Territorial Defense Forces, and Border Guard Service. They defended Ukraine across various fronts – in Mariupol, at Azovstal, in Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, as well as Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, and Kursk regions,” he added.
