Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused the liberal governments of France, the U.K. and Canada on Friday of siding with Hamas by threatening to intervene in the Gaza war.

Netanyahu specifically named French President Emmanuel Macron, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer as world leaders who are “emboldening Hamas to continue fighting forever,” the Israeli Prime Minister said in a statement on X. The three world leaders pledged Monday to take “concrete action” if Netanyahu did not stop his ground invasion of Gaza.

Israel launched “Operation Gideon’s Chariots” on May 17, with Netanyahu aiming to achieve a total occupation of the Gaza Strip. Most recently in the operation, Israel announced that they “probably” killed Hamas leader Mohammad Sinwar — the brother of former Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, who was killed by Israeli forces in October 2024 — in a May 21 strike.

“I say to President Macron, Prime Minister Carney and Prime Minister Starmer: When mass murderers, rapists, baby killers and kidnappers thank you, you’re on the wrong side of justice,” Netanyahu said in the address. “You’re on the wrong side of humanity and you’re on the wrong side of history.”

The war began on Oct. 7, 2023, when Hamas launched a surprise attack into Israel in which Hamas terrorists killed nearly 1,200 people and took approximately 240 hostages. As of May 12, Hamas still holds 58 hostages, according to the American Jewish Committee.

Earlier in January, 33 hostages were released as part of a temporary ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas. The last American hostage, 21-year-old Edan Alexander, was released on May 12.

Hamas has continued to launch rockets and clash with ground troops as the war drags on, while the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) made rapid advances into the region, taking key security corridors.

Netanyahu finds himself in a precarious position as the aforementioned Western nations pressure the prime minister to end the war in Gaza before Israel can achieve its stated goals of eradicating Hamas and ensuring the terror group does not return to power after the fighting concludes. Moreover, President Donald Trump, wishing for a quick end to hostilities, has reportedly become frustrated with Netanyahu.

Trump passed on a meeting with Netanyahu during his visit to the Middle East in May, a decision that has reportedly caused some concern within the Israeli government.

On Wednesday, two Israeli Embassy staffers were gunned down in Washington, D.C., and a radical pro-Palestinian activist is the lead suspect in the case. Trump called Netanyahu on Thursday to express his condolences and continue to fight antisemitism in the U.S.

Carney, the French Embassy and Starmer’s offices did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s requests for comment.
