The Washington Post is melting down over something it should’ve started complaining about years ago — lawfare.

Recently, anonymous leakers at the Department of Justice ran to the Post and the Daily Beast  claiming the Trump administration is preparing to “gut” internal rules meant to stop politically motivated prosecutions. Their main concern? That Attorney General Pam Bondi is considering eliminating a requirement that prosecutors get permission from the DOJ’s so-called Public Integrity Section (PIN) before bringing charges against public officials.

Let’s be clear — that rule was never about ensuring justice. It was about shielding The Swamp.

PIN isn’t some neutral watchdog office. It has been a haven for deep-state lawyers who’ve abused their power for years — pushing selective prosecutions, protecting their allies, and turning a blind eye to The Left’s wrongdoing. That is why the Trump administration is slashing the number of prosecutors within PIN.

These are the same career bureaucrats who stood by silently as Biden’s DOJ launched lawfare attacks on President Trump during the 2024 campaign. Now we’re supposed to believe that stripping PIN of its power will lead to more lawfare, not less?

Give us a break.

During her confirmation hearings, Bondi didn’t mince words. She made it clear the Trump DOJ is focused on ending lawfare once and for all. “We will restore integrity by preventing career prosecutors from using their offices to settle political scores,” she said. That starts by dismantling the tools and offices the Left has used to entrench partisan power inside the DOJ — like the Public Integrity Section.

And The Swamp knows it. That’s why they’re panicking. They like it when DOJ attorneys can quietly advance their political agenda without accountability. That’s what The Washington Post and its “unnamed sources” are really upset about—not the rule of law, but the erosion of their influence.

Unfortunately, Bondi and the Trump administration are finding that rooting out lawfare isn’t easy—even with Trump back in the White House. That’s because some Republicans still don’t get it.

Take Ed Martin, Trump’s nominee for U.S. Attorney in Washington, D.C. Martin’s a no-nonsense conservative who slashed violent crime in D.C. by 25%, defended free speech, and opposed lawfare. But when it came time for the Senate to confirm him, Senator Thom Tillis tanked the nomination—parroting The Left’s talking points about how Martin is a January 6 apologist because he refused to call January 6 an “insurrection” or a threat to democracy.

Martin later told Tucker Carlson that meeting with Tillis was like talking to an MSNBC anchor. That kind of weakness is exactly how The Swamp survives—because too many Republicans would rather chase media approval than fight for real justice.

And let’s be honest — lawfare didn’t start with Trump. It’s been part of The Left’s playbook for decades, and it’s now deeply institutionalized.

Just ask former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX), who was targeted by lawfare years before Trump took office. After helping Republicans take back the House, DeLay became target number one for Democratic prosecutors, the mainstream media, and liberal interest groups that worked together to bring down Washington’s most effective conservative. They hit him with years of bogus indictments and trumped-up charges. His staff was threatened, targeted, and prosecuted, all to get the House Majority Leader’s head on a stake. While the cases against DeLay ultimately fell apart, the damage was already done. DeLay’s political career was effectively over, and many of his confidants became persona non grata.

The Left learned an important lesson — abuse the legal system, and you can destroy your enemies without ever winning at the ballot box. They’ve worked to this end nonstop ever since.

That’s exactly why Bondi’s reforms matter. They aren’t opening the door to politicized prosecutions. They are closing it to the people who’ve been abusing the system for decades.

The Washington Post wants Americans to think this is some reckless power grab. It’s not. It’s a long-overdue correction. And the louder The Swamp screams, the more obvious it is that Trump and Bondi are right over the target.

The American people are tired of the double standards. They’re tired of partisan prosecutors, rigged investigations, and show trials. And if these reforms finally rattle the DOJ’s powerbrokers, then it’s about time.

If this is what draining The Swamp looks like, keep it coming.
