Kourtney Kardashian is facing a wave of online criticism after posting vacation photos that included her youngest child on a boat without a life jacket.
The 46-year-old reality star shared a series of snapshots from her family’s getaway in Idaho last Friday, captioning the post “Food for the soul.” In one of the images, her 21-month-old son, Rocky — whom she shares with husband Travis Barker — can be seen on board without any visible safety gear.
The picture immediately drew sharp reactions from followers. Comments flooded in, with many pointing out that boating without a life jacket for young children is not only unsafe but also illegal in many areas. “No life jacket??? And the Mother of the year award goes to……,” one user wrote. Another added, “Not having a life jacket on your baby while in a boat is reckless and ILLEGAL.”
Less than 24 hours later, Kardashian addressed the backlash directly. On her Instagram story, she shared a screenshot of a child’s life vest and wrote, “Update: bought a life vest that fits!” She thanked commenters for raising the issue.
“Honestly didn’t think about some of the dangers. Thank you for making me aware and hopefully this helps make other mommies aware of the dangers of certain types of boating without a life vest,” she continued.
Her quick acknowledgment and change in response drew praise from many followers. “I love that instead of getting angry she took the advice and wants to protect her child,” one user said.
Another noted, “There are many times in life when we just simply don’t think of something until someone points it out. Great Mom response.”

This isn’t the first time Kardashian’s parenting choices have made headlines. Earlier this year, she posted a series of October-themed photos featuring her Southern California home decorated for Halloween. Among the decorations were two massive inflatable skeletons, positioned in a suggestive way that some followers called inappropriate. “The inflatables are cringe,” one user commented. Another wrote, “Your kids can SEE those skeletons.” Some went further, calling the display “disgusting” for a mother of four.
Kardashian and Barker, who made their relationship public in 2021, are known for their openness on social media, including frequent public displays of affection. They married in 2022 in Italy and welcomed Rocky in November 2023. Kardashian also has three children with her former partner, Scott Disick, while Barker has three children from his previous marriage to Shanna Moakler.
