In a striking move, President Donald Trump announced that he will personally patrol the streets of Washington, D.C., alongside law enforcement and military personnel on Thursday night.

“I’m going to be going out tonight with the police and with the military, of course,” Trump told talk show host Todd Starnes during an interview.

The announcement marks another bold step in Trump’s escalating campaign to clamp down on unrest and assert federal control in cities — a strategy that’s drawn both fierce criticism and intense support.

It’s been more than a week since Trump ordered a federal takeover of the D.C. police force.

Trump’s Thursday night outing will be watched closely — not just for what it says about his approach to governance, but for what it signals about the future of federal intervention in America’s cities. One thing is certain: he’s not backing down.
