It appears to be “pretty clear” — there will be no third term for President Donald Trump.

Trump admitted that himself while talking with reporters on Air Force One where he cited the U.S. Constitution prohibits another four-year term, per CNN.

“I have my highest poll numbers that I’ve ever had,” he said en route South Korea. “And, you know, based on what I read, I guess I’m not allowed to run so we’ll see what happens.”

The president and House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) spoke about the possibility of a third run on Tuesday.

“It’s been a great run. But I think the president knows, and he and I have talked about, the constrictions of the Constitution, as much as so many of the American people lament that,” Johnson said.

Trump later said he did not  want to rehash what he and Johnson spoke about.

“I don’t want to even talk about that, because, you know, the sad thing is, I have my highest numbers that I’ve ever had,” Trump said, later adding, “I would say that if you read it, [the Constitution] it’s pretty clear, I’m not allowed to run. It’s too bad. But we have a lot of great people.”

The president has teased the idea of a third run and even has Trump 2028 hats on display in the White House.

“The Economist” published an interview with Trump supporter Steve Bannon, who said “there is a plan” for a third term run.

However, some have claimed Bannon’s statement was an attempt to get attention himself.

Trump also recently said it would be “too cute” for him to run as vice president as a means to regain the presidency when the elected president stepped down.

“I think the people wouldn’t like that because it’s too cute. It’s not — it wouldn’t be right,” he said.
