Less than 24 hours after Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was assassinated while speaking at Utah Valley University, a left-wing professor took to social media to lash out at the slain conservative leader.

According to Fox News, Chanda Prescod-Weinstein, an associate professor of physics and astronomy at the University of New Hampshire and a core faculty member in women’s studies, criticized both Kirk and journalist Ezra Klein in a series of posts on Bluesky.

Her comments came in response to a New York Times opinion piece by Klein titled “Charlie Kirk Was Practicing Politics the Right Way,” which praised Kirk for engaging with people who disagreed with his views.

“Ezra Klein isn’t theorizing Charlie Kirk. He is theorizing politics. And he is saying that Charlie Kirk’s brand of white supremacy was a good way of doing politics,” Prescod-Weinstein wrote on Sept. 11. “I hope you all recognize now that Ezra is a total f—ing ghoul.”

Should the professor have criticized Charlie Kirk so soon after his assassination?

In a follow-up post, she added, “See the other thing about working for the New York Times is that means not having a real editor who will say ‘are you sure you wanna do that?’ And actually, editors are good. Anyway, Ezra Klein now on record saying one of the 21st century’s most ardent white supremacists did politics the right way.”

Prescod-Weinstein frequently uses Bluesky to share anti-conservative views. Following the death of former Vice President Dick Cheney on Monday, she amplified a post describing Republicans as “cult members.” She also often reposts messages from supporters of socialist New York mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani.

In 2020, after the murder of George Floyd, Prescod-Weinstein and University of Chicago professor Brian Nord organized a “#StrikeforBlackLives,” urging scientists to pause their work and spend the day acting against racism.

“This is not about identifying with a minority or marginalized group or diversity and inclusion,” they wrote in a statement. “This moment is about Black people and the conditions under which we live and work. It is about how white supremacy pervades my professional spaces as well as my life outside of them.”
