Kevin Spacey says the past seven years have left him without a home, scrambling for work, and trying to rebuild both his finances and his career after a long list of sexual assault allegations derailed his life.
According to Fox News, during a candid interview with The Telegraph, the 66-year-old actor described a dramatic fall from Hollywood stardom to a life spent drifting from one temporary place to the next.
“The costs over these last seven years have been astronomical,” Spacey said. “I’ve had very little coming in and everything going out.”
Spacey, who has recently been performing a live show titled Kevin Spacey: Songs & Stories at a nightclub in Cyprus, said he no longer has a permanent residence.
“I’m living in hotels, I’m living in Airbnbs, I’m going where the work is,” he said. “Everything is in storage, and I hope at some point, if things continue to improve, that I’ll be able to decide where I want to settle down again.”
“I literally have no home,” he added.
The actor admitted his financial situation is “not great,” revealing he came close to filing for bankruptcy. His representative did not respond to a request for comment.
Spacey was acquitted in July 2023 on all charges involving accusations from four men in the U.K. The verdict followed four weeks of testimony. He had pleaded not guilty to sexual assault, indecent assault, and causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent.
After the jury cleared him, he expressed gratitude for their deliberation.
“I’m enormously grateful to the jury for having taken the time to examine all of the evidence and all of the facts,” he said at the time. “I am humbled by the outcome today.”
Spacey said he believes his career is far from over, claiming he and his manager have been in contact with “extremely powerful people” who want to hire him — but are waiting for the right moment.
“What I think the industry seems to be waiting for is to be given permission — by someone who is in some position of enormous respect and authority,” he said. “If Martin Scorsese or Quentin Tarantino call Evan tomorrow, it will be over.”
He added, “I believe it’s going to happen.”
Several high-profile Hollywood names have already come to his defense. After the release of the documentary Spacey Unmasked in the U.K., actors including Sharon Stone and Liam Neeson publicly supported him and called for his return to film.
Stone described Spacey as “a genius” who is “elegant and fun, generous to a fault.” Neeson said he was “deeply saddened” by the accusations and insisted the industry “needs him and misses him greatly.”
Spacey said he is now approaching fame differently, finding a sense of humility in starting over.
“My relationship with fame is very much changed,” he said. “People are so kind and so generous. I’m walking with my head high… nothing to hide.”
For now, he said, he’s focused on the work he can get — and hoping Hollywood eventually opens its doors again.
