New York City turned into yet another battleground Tuesday night as anti-ICE protests spiraled into chaos inside the Hilton Garden Inn in Tribeca. Protesters stormed the hotel lobby, blocked pedestrian access, chanted extremist slogans—and were eventually hauled out by police in handcuffs.

At around 6 p.m., NYPD officers responded to reports that demonstrators affiliated with left-wing activist group Sunrise Movement had taken over the hotel’s lobby. The group claimed on social media that the hotel was housing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials.

What followed was a disturbing spectacle of radical rhetoric and unhinged behavior.

Videos posted online show protesters shouting “No ICE, No KKK, No Fascist USA” and “ICE out of New York.” In one video, the mob escalates further, chanting “Kristi Noem will hang,” a direct threat toward the Department of Homeland Security secretary.

Despite the chaos, Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s office doubled down on support for the protesters. His spokesperson Sam Raskin issued a statement praising the demonstration and taking aim at ICE. “Mayor Mamdani commends the protestors who exercised their right to protest against ICE today,” the statement read. “As he has said, ICE is a rogue agency… The Mayor is also pleased with the NYPD’s response to today’s peaceful protest.”

Peaceful? Protesters overtook private property, obstructed traffic, and shouted death threats. At about 8:20 p.m., a police bus carrying arrested demonstrators rolled away from the scene, while supporters shouted “We love you, we will get justice for you.”

Police haven’t released the exact number of arrests or charges filed, but dozens were seen being detained.

The demonstration comes on the heels of the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti by Border Patrol agents during a Minneapolis ICE operation over the weekend. That incident, along with the earlier shooting of Renee Nicole Good, has sent leftist groups into overdrive, sparking protests and riots from Minnesota to New York.

Just one day before the NYC hotel chaos, protesters outside a Marriott hotel in Minnesota were also arrested after Border Patrol Commander Gregory Bovino was rumored to be staying there.

The rise in radical street protests, targeting not just ICE but any institution remotely connected to border enforcement, is now extending its reach into hotels, businesses, and federal offices. And as officials like Mamdani cozy up to the chaos, the message from the far left is getting louder—and more dangerous.
