Music legend Cher made a legendary blunder when she announced Luther Vandross as the winner of Record of the Year at the Grammy Awards.

There are a couple of issues with Vandross’ win Sunday night — he died in 2005 and the actual winner was Kendrick Lamar, per Mediaite.

The Record of the Year was the last award given after Cher received a Lifetime Achievement Award.

After her speech and subsequent applause, she added, “Thank you. I guess I’m supposed to walk off now. All right.”

As she began to walk off stage, host Trevor Noah a

summoned her back and reminded her she was also presenting the Grammy award for Record of the Year.

“You can see I wanted to get off the stage,” she said, jokingly.

After the tape rolled listing the nominees, Cher was seen on stage holding the envelope containing the winner’s name.

Should the Grammys reconsider how awards are presented to avoid errors like Cher's announcement?

“And the Grammy goes to…” Cher began, pausing, “Oh! They told me it was gonna be on the prompter.”

She then opened the envelope and announced the winner — “Luther Vandross!”

She then called out, Cher called out: “Oh no, Kendrick Lamar!”

In all fairness to Cher, Lamar won for his hit song “Luther,” featuring SZA.

The song was named for Vandross, whom Lamar thanked in his speech.
