Republican Tennessee Rep. Tim Burchett slammed comments Republican South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham made regarding Lebanon during a Wednesday interview with a reporter.
Graham called on Trump to join Israeli forces in attacking Hezbollah targets in Lebanon after the radical Islamic terrorist group, supported by the Islamic Republic of Iran, fired rockets indiscriminately into Israel. The unidentified reporter started to ask Burchett, who’s become a Republican social media star, about Graham’s comments when Burchett cut him off.
“Lindsey Graham is now calling for the US to start bombing Lebanon in response to the Hezbollah attacks,” the reporter said before Burchett interrupted, saying, “Lindsey hasn’t seen a fist fight he hasn’t wanted to turn into a bombing raid, so I just take it with a grain of salt.”
WATCH:
President Donald Trump announced that the United States military and Israeli Defense Forces began Operation Epic Fury in a video posted on Truth Social early Saturday morning. Trump confirmed Khamenei’s death in a later post on Truth Social Saturday.
Iran responded to Operation Epic Fury by firing hundreds of ballistic missiles and drones indiscriminately at targets in Israel, Qatar, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
Republican Sen. John Kennedy of Louisiana previously ribbed Graham over his hawkishness in his book, “How to Test Negative for Stupid: And Why Washington Never Will,” released in October 2025.
“If you want to stump Lindsey, just ask him to name a country he wouldn’t bomb,” Mr. Kennedy wrote.
According to a Democracy Institute poll, 85% of Republicans surveyed believe Trump broke his 2024 campaign promise to avoid foreign wars. Some Republican lawmakers, including Republican Reps. Anna Paulina Luna of Florida and House Speaker Mike Johnson of Louisiana have argued that the air and missile strikes on Iran aren’t a war, but instead have used terms like “defensive operation” or “targeted military strikes.”
