The demonstrations brought thousands of people to Washington, D.C., part of a broader nationwide effort opposing President Donald Trump and his administration, with a particular focus on Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Speaking on CNN’s State of the Union, Jennings said he saw flags tied to communism and groups he described as terrorist organizations, arguing that the protests reflected the makeup of the Democratic coalition.

“These No Kings rallies actually look pretty representative to me of the Democratic coalition,” Jennings said. “I saw people flying the hammer and sickle in New York City. I saw Hezbollah flags. I saw Hamas flags. I saw Palestinian flags. I saw trans signs. I see weirdo liberal boomers out there.”

He went on to suggest the demonstrations offered a clear contrast between the two parties. “This is pretty representative of the Democratic coalition. And that’s who funds it as well, by the way,” he said. “If America looks at this and asks what the two parties stand for, they got it at the No Kings rallies.”

Do you believe the No Kings rallies accurately represent the Democratic coalition?

Video from the protests shows some participants chanting anti-police slogans as officers escorted the march through Washington. In one clip, a demonstrator led chants calling to “abolish the police,” even as uniformed officers walked alongside the group.

Photos from the event also show some protesters wearing hats and carrying flags featuring the hammer and sickle.

Although the No Kings website says the movement is focused on opposing authoritarianism in the United States, some of its partner organizations have previously expressed support for communist governments abroad.
