Newly surfaced police footage is shedding light on the moments after Tiger Woods was involved in a rollover crash that led to his DUI arrest in Florida.
According to the New York Post, the video shows Woods on his knees beside the road in Hobe Sound shortly after deputies arrived at the scene just after 1 p.m. on March 27.
Wearing sunglasses and a backward baseball cap, the golf icon appeared calm and cooperative as officers assessed the situation.
When asked what happened, Woods offered a brief explanation: “I looked down at my phone and boom.”
Despite the severity of the crash — which left his black Land Rover on its side — Woods appeared unusually composed. At one point, as an officer checked on him, he responded, “Yeah, yeah, I’m cool, cool.”
“I don’t feel anything out of the — ” Woods began, before the officer assured him that medical personnel would still evaluate him. “We’re still gonna have our medic come and check you out, alright?”
“Yeah,” Woods replied.
Nearby, another driver involved in the incident, identified as Jeromy Bullard, spoke with authorities as well.
“Are you OK?” an officer asked him.
“Yeah, I’m fine. I hit the trailer,” Bullard said. “I don’t even know if I drive out of here.”
Traffic quickly began to build along South Beach Road, prompting deputies to direct drivers to turn around and avoid the crash site.
“You’re gonna have to go back around. Yeah, everybody,” an officer instructed.
According to investigators, Woods had been driving on Jupiter Island when he attempted to pass a Ford F-150 towing a trailer by crossing double solid lines.
Deputies later noted that Woods appeared lethargic and unsteady, with bloodshot, glassy eyes. He also struggled with coordination exercises administered at the scene.
Authorities reported finding two pills in Woods’ pocket, later identified as hydrocodone, which were collected as evidence.
The five-time The Masters champion pleaded not guilty to DUI. In a statement shared on social media, Woods acknowledged the seriousness of the situation and said he would step away from the public eye.
“I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today,” he wrote. “I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health.”
He also thanked supporters while requesting privacy.
“I appreciate the understanding and support,” Woods added, asking for “privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time.”
