She added, “We would listen to music. We would look at each other and woo! We would be moving the same way.”
Ann-Margaret played in the 1964 movie “Viva Las Vegas” opposite Presley.
Presley died in 1977 at the age of 42.
In an interview with CBS News in 2022, she talked about the first time she met Presley.
“It was kind of awkward – ‘Hi!’ – but it was great,” she said.
In her interview with Fox News Digital, the Swedish-born actress also reminisced about performing for troops stationed in Vietnam in 1966 after she “received a letter containing 3,000 signatures.”
“Here are these young men and women – they were there to do a man’s job. They might have arrived as 18-year-olds or 20-year-olds, but they became men in an instant. And these are my guys – they will always be my guys,” she said.
Although decades have passed, Ann-Margaret said those same men still have a special place in her heart.
“They came from little villages, big cities. And each young man I met had his own experience, his own story. And I remember each and every one of them,” she continued.
Ann-Margaret further emphasized the impact of those troops on her.
“They all loved America. Just thinking of their sacrifices for our country, for us, makes me emotional,” she shared.
Recently, Ann-Margaret launched her own perfume with all proceeds going to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund.
She shared why the fund is so important to her.
“Those guys mean the world to me,” she stated. “I’ve always loved our veterans and wanted to give back… And all the profits will go to Vietnam veterans with my love.”
Ann-Margaret spoke of her support for the men and women who fought in the war.
“It’s hard for me to even speak about them because it just fills my heart. I’m so with them,” she said.
She added,” You have to remember, these men and women were ready to fight for us. They love America. And of course, I love America.”
