Yet another beer brand is facing accusations it has gone “woke” over one of its ads.
On Monday, the Citizen Free Press shared an ad by Miller Lite on Twitter and wrote, “Miller Lite has joined the woke cult.”
But has it?
The ad, which was released in March to celebrate Women’s History Month, starts with comedian Ilana Glazer stating, “Here’s a little-known fact, women were among the very first to brew beer ever.”
“Centuries later, how did the industry pay homage to the founding mothers of beer? They put us in bikinis,” she continued, adding, “Wow!”
Glazer then disposed of an ad featuring bikini-clad women.
“It’s time beer made it up to women. So today, Miller Lite is on a mission to clean up not just their sh*t, but the whole industry’s sh*t,” she added.

The ad then focused on empowering female brewers.
It concludes with Glazer saying, “Here’s to women, because without us, there would be no beer.”
While the ad has been out for a while, conservatives did not hesitate when it came to labeling Miller Lite “woke.” After the Bud Light incident, it seems their radar for “woke” companies is up, and they lept into action.
Check out some of the reactions below:
Miller Lite saw the Bud Light disaster and decided they needed their own woke beer ad. These companies are broken & have no idea who actually consumes their products: pic.twitter.com/k9RKWVLJRF

Miller Lite said to Bud Light, “hold my beer,” and decided to create a new ad campaign straight out of early 2010s “I hate all men” feminism to sell a drink to customers they hate. pic.twitter.com/9gTnP9rNik

Good, we were worried their stock prices were too high.

This ad really should not be that offensive. In fact, conservatives, who tend to complain about a lack of modesty and over-sexualization of society, should be all for it.
It is not clear what message this ad sends that would be seen as offensive to conservatives.
But for the sake of fighting the culture war and outrage culture, they have decided to attack Miller Lite.
Apparently, now to not be “woke,” you have to produce ads of women in bikinis because that is what men want to see. And you need to please your customers.
But if your customer base supports values that conservatives do not like, and you as a company make ads and products to please your base, then you are “woke.” And if you create an ad that conservatives believe is too sexual, you are guilty of pushing for a society with loose morals.
This is another problem with the term “woke” now. It has no clear meaning anymore. It used to mean progressive craziness social justice issues, LGBT+ issues, and the loosening of sexual norms.
Today, it just kind of means anything conservatives do not like. And in this case, it seems a lot of conservatives are very angry about ads of bikini-clad women being taken away — which seems like they are actually the “woke” ones now.
