A frantic FaceTime call that crossed the Atlantic became a lifeline, a UK court heard, when a young woman says a quick-thinking friend helped stop a violent assault in progress.

According to the New York Post, while testifying during proceedings at Snaresbrook Crown Court, the woman told jurors her ex-boyfriend, Matvei Rumianstev, was attacking her when she reached out to Barron Trump for help.

The call, she said, came at a moment when she feared for her life.

According to her testimony, the assault erupted after Rumianstev, 22, became enraged over her friendship with Trump, the youngest son of President Donald Trump. In the middle of the confrontation, she initiated a FaceTime call, hoping someone on the other end would realize the danger she was in.

Trump did not hesitate, the court was told. After answering the call and realizing something was terribly wrong, he immediately contacted emergency services in the UK.

“I just got a call from a girl I know. She’s getting beaten up,” Trump told a 999 operator, according to court evidence reported by Metro UK.

After relaying the woman’s address, he pressed the urgency of the situation.

“It’s really an emergency, please. I got a call from her with a guy beating her up.”

Did Barron Trump’s call to police save the woman from her assailant?

Police were dispatched to the scene, where officers later explained to the woman that someone in the United States had alerted them. Bodycam footage shown in court captured her reaction as she tried to explain how help arrived so quickly.

During her interaction with officers, she stated, “I am friends with Barron Trump, Donald Trump’s son.”

At the officers’ request, she placed another call to confirm the identity of the person who contacted authorities. In the footage, she is heard asking, “Hello, Barron — did you call the police or anything?”

Trump’s response was direct. “I had someone call the police,” he said, later explaining to officers that he had answered the call expecting something routine.

“She called me. I picked up the phone expecting a nice hello or something,” Trump said.

He told police that the video feed showed only a ceiling, but the audio was unmistakable. He could hear screaming, crying, and the sounds of blows being struck during the brief call, which lasted roughly 10 to 15 seconds before cutting out.

“I called you guys; that was the best thing I could do,” Trump said. “I wasn’t going to call back and threaten things to him because that would just make the situation worse.”

On the witness stand, the woman credited that decision with saving her life. She described the call as “a sign from God,” telling jurors plainly that Trump’s actions prevented the assault from escalating further.
