During the campaign and his inauguration, President Joe Biden vowed to unite the country and heal the divisions that have festered in the country for several years.
However, shortly after the start of his presidency, it became clear that Biden’s vision of unity really meant: my way or the highway. Accordingly, polls have shown that most Americans believe he has fallen short of his unity vow and furthered divisions.
On Tuesday, the president told what appears to be a joke from his time as a county councilman in Delaware that is an interesting admission of how he treats people who disagree with him.
“I got a call one night, a woman said to me — obviously not of the same persuasion as I was politically — called me and said, ‘There’s a dead dog on my lawn!’ And I said, ‘Yes, ma’am, have you called the county?’ She said, ‘Yes, ‘they’re not here.’ I said, ‘Well, I’ll get it in the morning,'” Biden began.
He continued, “She said, ‘I want it removed now! I pay your salary!’ So I went over. I picked it up. She said, ‘I want it out of my front yard.’ I put it on her doorstep.”
His story received laughter from the audience.

It is unclear if the story was based on actual events or just made up.
Either way, it is an excellent allegory for how he views people who disagree with him. He’ll act like the friendly, empathic person he campaigned as, but when you do not behave as he would like you to, he reacts by leaving a dead dog on your doorstep.
Just look at how he handled the push to get Republicans to not block Democrats’ sweeping bill to overhaul elections.
Biden thought he could just beat them into submission by saying they are on the same side as Jefferson Davis or Bull Connor if they did not go along with Democrats’ voting scheme.
He told reporters last month that he didn’t bother to call moderate Republican senators to try to win their support because “I was trying to make sure we got everybody on the same page in my party on this score.”
In that effort, he didn’t even put in the effort of talking to them. He just looked at their decision to block the legislation and attacked them.
Or go back to the campaign, when Biden called a man “fat,” or a female student a “lying dog-faced pony soldier,” and lashed out at a factory worker and said he was “full of sh*t.” Or, more recently, when he called a reporter’s question “stupid” or called Fox News’ Peter Doocy a “stupid son of a b****.“
The message is clear, if you go along with what Biden wants and don’t challenge him, he’ll treat you well. If you cross him, you can expect a nasty response.
