President Joe Biden is highlighting bipartisan cooperation between Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) and other officials in the wake of the deadly condo collapse in Florida.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Biden said, “You know what’s good about this? The way you’re cooperating. We’re letting the nation know we can cooperate. It’s really important… this is life and death.”
“I just got back from 12 days in Europe. They wonder whether we can do this. And we’re doing it. I mean, just the simple act of everybody doing whatever needs to be done,” he continued.
DeSantis chimed in, “You recognized the severity of this tragedy from day one and you’ve been very supportive.”

Biden’s visit to Florida comes a week after the deadly collapse of a 12-story condo in Surfside, Florida, that has left at least 18 people dead and 145 people unaccounted for.
The comments also come amid a report that DeSantis has been battling with former President Donald Trump over plans to hold a campaign-style rally in the state 200 miles away from Surfside.
DeSantis reportedly made a “direct plea” for Trump to cancel the rally scheduled for this weekend.
As The Washington Examiner reports, one source told the outlet, “The governor is getting tested here as to how far he’s going to be pushed before he breaks ranks with President Trump. And he has to be very careful because this is Trump country.”
