President Joe Biden is raising eyebrows after claiming he has known Russian President Vladimir Putin for over four decades.
Biden sat down for an interview with ABC News’ David Muir and was if he is concerned about Putin’s warning regarding U.S, weapons being used by Ukraine to strike targets in Russian territory.
But, one part of his answer garnered significant attention as questions were raised about its veracity.
“I’ve known him for over 40 years. He’s concerned me for 40 years. He’s not a decent man,” Biden declared.

The New York Post notes, “Putin worked as an intelligence officer in the Soviet Union’s spy network from 1975 to 1991, with postings in his hometown of St. Petersburg and the former East Germany before he retired with the rank of lieutenant colonel — making it highly unlikely Biden was aware of the future US adversary’s existence as early as he claimed.”
It also pointed to a 2000 article from The Washington Post stating, “Until he was handpicked in August [1999] by then-President Boris Yeltsin to become prime minister, Putin had never been a public figure.”
