President Joe Biden says he does not want to talk about his predecessor anymore.

During a town hall event hosted by CNN on Tuesday evening, Biden was asked if he agrees with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) assertion that Republican senators who voted to acquit former President Donald Trump are “cowards.”

“I’m not going to call names out,” Biden responded.

He continued, “Look, for four years, all that’s been in the news is Trump. The next four years, I want to make sure all the news is the American people. I’m tired of talking about Trump. It’s done.”

Ahead of the Senate’s impeachment trial of Trump, Biden said, “I am just anxious to see what my Republican friends do. Will they stand up?”

Just days later, the Senate acquitted Trump on the charge of “incitement of insurrection.” Seven Republicans voted with Democrats to convict the former president.

However, there was not the required two-thirds majority, or 67-votes, to convict Trump.

After the vote, Pelosi released a scathing statement railing against the Republicans who voted to acquit Trump, as IJR reported.

“Senate Republicans’ refusal to hold Trump accountable for igniting a violent insurrection to cling to power will go down as one of the darkest days and most dishonorable acts in our nation’s history,” she wrote.

She added, “Tragically, Senate Republicans who voted not to convict chose to abandon the Constitution, the Country and the American people with this vote. Thank God for the judges and Republican elected officials across the country who pushed back against Donald Trump’s attempted overturning of our election which fueled the insurrection.”
