Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden insists President Donald Trump has surrendered in the United States’ fight against the coronavirus.
Biden appeared on MSNBC for an interview with Joy Reid on Monday where he was asked about Trump’s previous remarks during his Fox News interview on Sunday.
At the time, Trump said, “No country has ever done what we’ve done, in terms of testing.”
Biden offered his take on Trump’s remarks and handling of the pandemic, criticizing the president with his own words. In turn, Biden said, “I think he’s right, no country has ever done what [he’s] done — walk away.”
According to Biden, there is “no leadership” in the current administration and Trump has “raised the white flag” in surrender to the coronavirus.
“He raised the white flag. He has no idea what to do. It’s zero. It’s only one thing he has in mind — how does he win reelection?” Biden said. “And it doesn’t matter how many people get COVID and or die from COVID because he fears that if the economy is strapped as badly as it is today that, in fact, he is going to be in trouble.”

Biden continued, “That’s what this is all about. I’ve never seen a president who has been so self-serving in the conduct of the office.”
The former vice president went on to address the Trump administration’s ongoing attacks on former President Barack Obama’s administration throughout the pandemic.
Biden believes Trump has an inability to express genuine concern for people impacted by the coronavirus.
“Look, this guy has no sense of empathy or concern for people. People are dying, dying. Families are bereft. People are so worried about being able to see their grandmoms and grandpops for fear that they may get the COVID.”
He also stressed the importance of leaving Obamacare intact amid such a critical time for public health and safety.
“I don’t understand how he thinks it appeals to the American people. Overwhelming — the American people want us to keep ObamaCare and improve on it, not get rid of it, in the middle of a pandemic with hundreds of thousands of people ill and dying. And he wants to take away health insurance?” Biden pressed.
Despite Trump’s continued attempts to downplay the severity of the pandemic, the virus is continuing to spread in states across the United States.
With more than 3.9 million confirmed coronavirus cases, as of Tuesday morning, the United States has seen an increasing daily national average for the last 42 days, and a seven-day national average of 66,300 the country.
