President-elect Joe Biden is congratulating Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on securing her party’s nomination for Speaker of the House.
“President-elect Biden called Speaker Pelosi to congratulate her on her election as Democratic nominee for Speaker of the House and express that he looks forward to working with her and Democratic leadership in the House on a shared agenda to get COVID-19 under control and build our economy back better,” reads a statement issued by Biden’s office Wednesday.

During a press conference, Pelosi was questioned about whether she would commit to serving just two more terms as speaker, as IJR previously reported.
“Well, let me just say that when that conversation took place, there was a move to put limits on the leadership and the chairs of committees,” Pelosi said.
She added, “It never came up… They said they were going to do it. They didn’t do it. What I said then was, whether it passes or not, I will abide by those limits.”
Pelosi expressed her eagerness to work with Biden and his administration.
“Listen, if my husband is listening, don’t make me have to be more specific than that because we never expected to have another term now. I consider this a gift. And I can’t wait to be working with Joe Biden and preparing us for our transition into the future. But I don’t want to undermine any leverage I may have, but I made the statement,” Pelosi said.
Upon Biden’s victory, Pelosi explained she is optimistic America will be headed down a path of prosperity, as IJR previously reported.
“Today marks the dawning of a new day of hope for America. A record-shattering 75 million Americans cast their ballots to elect Joe Biden President of the United States – a historic victory that has handed Democrats a mandate for action,” Pelosi said
