President-elect Donald Trumep was the target of criticism from President Joe Biden.
Biden was asked during his address on Sunday following the death of former President Jimmy Carter what Trump could take from Carter’s legacy.
“Decency. Decency. Decency,” Biden responded.
“Can you imagine Jimmy Carter walking by someone who needed something and just keep walking? Can you imagine Jimmy Carter referring to someone by the way they look or the way they talk?” he added.
Biden praised Carter during his address to the nation: “Some look at Jimmy Carter and see a man of a bygone era with honesty and character. Faith and humility mattered, but I don’t believe it’s a bygone era. We’d all do well to try to be more like Jimmy Carter.”

Carter died at his home in Plains, Georgia, on Sunday.
Trump issued two statements in the wake of Carter’s death.
“Those of us who have been fortunate to have served as President understand this is a very exclusive club, and only we can relate to the enormous responsibility of leading the Greatest Nation in History,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
He continued, “The challenges Jimmy faced as President came at a pivotal time for our country and he did everything in his power to improve the lives of all Americans. For that, we all owe him a debt of gratitude.”

Biden also issued a statement, writing, “Over six decades, we had the honor of calling Jimmy Carter a dear friend. But, what’s extraordinary about Jimmy Carter, though, is that millions of people throughout America and the world who never met him thought of him as a dear friend as well.”
“To honor a great American, I will be ordering an official state funeral to be held in Washington D.C. for James Earl Carter, Jr., 39th President of the United States, 76th Governor of Georgia, Lieutenant of the United States Navy, graduate of the United States Naval Academy, and favorite son of Plains, Georgia, who gave his full life in service to God and country,” Biden wrote.
