It’s been a fruitful summer for the Harris campaign as the vice president raised $361 million in August alone.
That windfall dwarfs that raised by her opponent in the race for the White House as former President Donald Trump’s campaign brought in $130 million, Politico reported.
Harris’ campaign boasted this is the best grassroots fundraising month in presidential history.
“In just a short time, Vice President Harris’ candidacy has galvanized a history-making, broad, and diverse coalition — with the type of enthusiasm, energy, and grit that wins close elections,” Julie Chávez Rodríguez, Harris’ campaign manager, said in a statement Friday. “With the undeniable, organic support we are seeing, we are making sure we are doing everything possible to mobilize our coalition to defeat Donald Trump once and for all.”
Harris’ campaign got a late start in fundraising with President Joe Biden dropping out of the race in July, making August her first full month as the Democratic Party presidential nominee.
She’s raised more than $615 million late July, per her campaign.
There is $404 million in cash on hand for the Democrats to spend versus $300 million on the Republican side. This is according to figures released by both campaigns earlier this week.
The Trump campaign experienced a windfall of its own after Trump was convicted in late May. However, new life was breathed into the campaign for Democrats when Harris replaced Biden.
Harris is focusing her dollars into political advertising by investing $370 million into TV and digital ads through Nov. 5.
