Former President Bill Clinton is taking aim at former President Donald Trump for mentioning the fictional serial killer Hannibal Lecter.
During a speech on Thursday night, Clinton said, “When you send a signal to the other countries, you wanted them to know — whether they agree with you or not — at least that you’re on the level.”
“Here’s where you are, what you believe. What are they supposed to make to these endless tributes to the ‘late great Hannibal Lecter’?” he asked.

Clinton added, “I mean, President Obama once gave me the great honor of saying I was the ‘Explainer in Chief.’ Folks, I thought and thought about it, and I don’t know what to say.”
Trump has repeatedly referenced Hannibal Lecter, a fictional cannibal and serial killer from the movie “The Silence of the Lambs.”
“They hate when I use Dr. Hannibal Lecter. The late, great Hannibal Lecter,” an apparent reference to the media,” he said during an August 3 rally.
And while he was accepting his party’s presidential nomination in July, Trump asked, “Has anyone seen ‘The Silence of the Lambs’? The late, great Hannibal Lecter. He’d love to have you for dinner. That’s insane asylums. They’re emptying out their insane asylums.”
