Actor and comedian Alex Duong died at 42, following a year-long fight with cancer, according to a message shared by a close friend.
According to Page Six, the news was posted Saturday by Hilarie Steele on a GoFundMe page created to support Duong’s family, including his wife, Christina, and their 5-year-old daughter, Everest.
“He was comfortable and thankfully out of pain,” Steele wrote.
She added that Duong was able to share a final moment with his child before his death.
“He was alert enough to say goodbye to his little girl, whom he has treasured every moment since the day she was born,” she continued.
“We are devastated, but so grateful for the support, prayers and generosity you have all shown during this unimaginable time.”
Just one day earlier, Steele revealed that Duong’s condition had sharply declined.
“He has gone into septic shock, a severe and life-threatening infection that has overwhelmed his body,” she wrote. “He is in the hospital, and the situation is critical. Everything has changed so quickly.”
At the time, she asked for financial help to cover emergency medical care, hospital expenses, rent, food, and other basic needs.
By Sunday, Steele said the response had deeply moved the family.
“Please keep Alex and his family in your prayers,” she wrote. “Your support is carrying them through the hardest time of their lives.”
Duong had been diagnosed in 2025 with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, an aggressive form of cancer that develops in soft tissue and can spread rapidly.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, the condition most often affects older children, teenagers, and young adults aged 20 to 35.
Duong was best known for his appearances on the television series Blue Bloods.
Over the years, he also appeared in several other popular shows, including Dexter, Everybody Hates Chris, 90210, The Young and the Restless, and Pretty Little Liars.
