Another Democrat is raising concerns about President Joe Biden’s ability to win the general election.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) said, “I am deeply concerned about Joe Biden winning this November.”

“Because it is an existential threat to the country if Donald Trump wins. So I think that we have to reach a conclusion as soon as possible,” he continued. “And I think Joe Biden, as the Democratic nominee, has my support.”

On Tuesday, Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) confirmed he said during a private lunch that he does not believe President Joe Biden can win in November.

“You guys, and others, asked whether I said it, and that is what I said, so I figured I should come here and say it publicly,” Bennet told anchor Kaitlan Collins.

When asked why he felt that way, the senator explained:

“This race is on a trajectory that is very worrisome if you care about the future of this country. Joe Biden was up nine points at this time the last time he was running. Hillary Clinton was up five points. This is the first time in more than 20 years that a Republican president is up during this part of the campaign. Donald Trump is on track, I think, to win this election — and maybe win it by a landslide — and with him take the Senate and the House.”

Bennet’s comment comes as Biden is facing pressure in the media and from some elected Democrats to drop out of the race after a disastrous debate performance.

Despite calls to step aside, the president penned a letter to congressional Democrats on Monday saying he is “firmly committed” to staying in the race and urged the party to unify behind him.

However, during his interview with CNN, Bennet said he had not seen a plan from the White House and Biden’s team to win the election and win in swing states.

Still, he did not call for Biden to step aside or lay out what would lead him to make such a call.
