Bob Saget’s widow, Kelly Rizzo, is responding to a claim about the night her husband died.
The attorney for the Saget family, Brian H. Bieber, issued a statement on behalf of Rizzo after a crew member claimed Saget said he did not “feel good” the night of his death.
“The records released tell the entire story — that is, Bob passed away after a fall and hitting his head in his hotel room,” Bieber said in a statement to Page Six.
He added, “Now that the medical examiner’s and police department’s records have been released after their respective thorough investigations, the Saget family would appreciate privacy to mourn in peace.”
Page Six obtained audio of an interview conducted by the Orange County police with showrunner Rosalie Cocci.
“I did hear him say, ‘I don’t feel good but I’m ready to do the show. This is what I do this for.’ He seemed to be talking himself up,” Cocci said.
She continued, “He said that his hearing had been off and that was the case that night. He was asking the sound guys to turn everything up.”
According to Cocci, Saget had a “sore throat” and was “happy he had lozenges for the stage.”
She said Saget “stated” he was suffering from “long-term” COVID” and it was “taking his body a long time to get over it,” as Page Six reported.
Cocci claimed Saget “seemed OK” and was “cracking jokes” while he was performing.
The showrunner explained, “He wasn’t sweating, he didn’t miss a beat, nothing slurred … He came out very energetic.”
In January, Saget was found dead in his Florida hotel room. Earlier this month, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Saget died from accidental blunt head trauma.
On Tuesday, more than 50 photos linked to the investigation into Saget’s death were released.
